360° from the perspective of a football

Summer/fall 2013

The world cup is every 4 years, and each time Adidas redesign the official match ball. The unveiling for the 2014 world cup, held in Brazil, was through the Brazuca campaign. We wrote and produced a regular TVC as well a custom web version where select sequences were available in 360°. This was done through a custom player that ran on Youtube long before they had a 360 player of their own.

Filming 360° from the perspective of a ball as it's being played with is something that took quite a bit of ingenuity, planning, and hard work. We ended up building several different cameras for the various sequences and spent significant time working out how to roto, track and comp 360° since the stadium we shot in had to be replaced completely.

My role was fairly ubiquitous: I co-wrote the pitch, helped figuring out camera solutions, ran things on set, oversaw web implementation, and more.
