NBA All-Star Weekend 2017 behind the scenes

Wild dunks and custom cameras

February 2017

For Oculus we produced a 10 minute behind-the-scenes tour of the 2017 NBA All-Star Weekend. The objective was to push turn-around time for well-stiched stereoscopic video content to its absolute speed limit, and we managed to turn around these 36000 frames per eye in 3 weeks. This involved several custom built cameras and pipeline tools, as well as leveraging state of the art ML stitching techniques.

As part of this project I lead the build of the world’s first 1200 frames per second stereoscopic VR camera together with NYC vendor Abelcine.
