High end interactive VR installation

November 2014

In order to showcase the state of the art engineering and manufacturing that goes into the car, we used a combination of Unreal Engine real-time graphics and pre-recorded 360° videos to take the viewer through the construction process. We mapped the interiors of a Chrysler 200 exactly to scale in VR, something that hadn’t been deployed in the wild by anyone else before (according to Oculus themselves). We included custom haptics hardware in the seats, and the installation subsequently toured US auto shows throughout 2015. The client was Wieden + Kennedy, produced by Stopp and MPC Interactive NYC.

I was technical lead from pitch throughout production as well as the original LA auto show installation, and built much of the custom hardware. I also lead much of the interaction design work.
